INSPIRATION: Music

Music is a way of life. It sets the tone for the day; it has the effect of changing the mood of a movie scene and has the power over the way we live. The amount of people you see on the bus or walking down the street with their headphones plugged in and their whole mind in their music shows how important it is for our everyday lifestyles. Whether it is classical or punk rock everyone has at least one song that they would either moderately enjoy or become totally obsessed with.

Being a musician myself I have many songs and albums that have truly inspired me. One of my all time favorite bands has to be queen; even in the twenty-first century you are able to appreciate the sheer beauty of their carefully crafted work. Take Bohemian Rhapsody as an example - one cannot compare the amount of musicality involved in this song that is able to catch the attention of anyone. It was a groundbreaking rock, opera that created a whole new set of rules in the UK music industry. But saying this I think there is only one song that that betters this, which is under pressure by Queen featuring David Bowie. This is one of the very few songs that is extremely important to me. No matter how many times I listen to the song it never gets old.

Songs- what makes them so significant? Why are we so caught up in finding out the next best song or craze? The diverse music genres globalize this source of inspiration. From cultural music to classic or rock, each piece of music bares the signature of their artist. Music has its own history. In every decade there will always be certain musicians who define that period in time, and their songs are timeless. Everyone has heard of the famous band from Liverpool called the Beatles, along with the king of rock Elvis Presley. When you hear certain music, particularly if you were alive in that time, it can spark a memory or a feeling that you had when you first heard the piece. It can remind you of the people you once new and lift your spirits.

Music is seen as a way to express oneself. As cliché as it may sound, you are able to lose yourself in your work and have the focus and dedication to come out with a finish product. Music is one of the key factors, which brings together students and teachers alike. In the recent battle of the bands, different year groups celebrated the sheer pleasure of making music together. The music department at JFS inspires many people to follow their passions and talents that are showcased on many occasions.

Everybody can get something out of music. You don’t have to be a world-class singer but you can be inspired to stick at something and actually try to learn an instrument or simply just listen to music for pleasure. When talking about inspiration, jobs and your future in life music plays a big part, whether going into the business or not everybody can connect to it.
